The way you can tell what side is the bad side is if you crank it all the way to the right and hear the clicking it is the right side and vice versa. Driving on a bad CV joint is a bad idea so if you can hear clicking go replace it NOW. If a CV fails while driving it can really chew up the differential and the transmission and then you have more problems than you started with. - Inspect the rubber boot that covers the joint. If it is torn, and there is dirt and grit up inside, your cv joint is about to fail. You'll know it is failing when it starts clicking.
